Small farms, rural homesteads, and local businesses are getting squeezed from both ends: organic waste piling up with nowhere to go, and energy costs climbing higher every season. We shouldn't have to choose between managing waste responsibly and keeping the lights on.

The good news? The solution is already sitting in your barn, your garden beds, and your compost pile.


⚡ Our Solution: The Waste-to-Watts Co-Op

We're building a closed-loop, scalable system that transforms organic waste and thermal energy into reliable baseline electricity and heat, high-value organic liquid fertilizer, and shared community energy credits.

Think of it like a credit union — but for your organic resources:

  • The Deposit: You bring us your food scraps, garden waste, and livestock manure — logged by the pound.
  • The Dividend: You earn Energy Credits (for shared utilities, water pumping, or cold-storage access) and a proportional share of nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer for your own garden, crops, or hydroponic setup.

By pooling our community's waste streams, we create a closed-loop economic engine that cuts out corporate utility middlemen, lowers local farming overhead, and turns what was trash into a shared community asset.


🗺️ Our 4-Phase Roadmap

Phase 1 — Thermal & Airflow Testing (Funded Goal: $2,500)

Before we introduce biological waste, we're running bench-top physics experiments to maximize energy generation from natural air currents:

  • Test 1 — Candle Draft Bench Test: A simple proof-of-concept using a candle flame in a sealed vertical channel to measure generated wind and rotational output.
  • Test 2 — Hydrothermal Cooling Airline Test: Evaluating how contrasting temperature loops affect internal airflow velocity.
  • Test 3 — Rocket Mass Heater Test: High-velocity thermal drafts through a custom-built rocket stove channel to spin shrouded micro-turbines.

Phase 2 — Biological Methane Integration

Once the turbine and airflow mechanics are dialed in, we introduce a modular biogas system fed with garden scraps and animal waste to generate raw methane. We run the same thermal and turbine tests using harvested methane — tracking burn efficiency and gas production rates — and sample the resulting liquid fertilizer for pH, nitrates, potassium, and phosphates.

Phase 3 — Scaling Into the Real World

This is where the system leaves the bench and meets the barn. We integrate the biomass-to-energy framework directly into working agricultural sites — think pig farms, dairy operations, and animal processing facilities — using continuous high-volume waste streams to power on-site refrigeration, heating, and mechanical water pumps.

And it doesn't stop at the farm gate. High-volume waste producers like flea markets, farmers markets, butcher shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and even municipal waste management companies are natural partners in this model. Anywhere waste is generated consistently, there's an opportunity to put it to work.

We want to partner with the BioGas Company to hit the ground running. We are simply the engineers behind the energy generation. 

Phase 4 — The Community Co-Op Hub ($4,800)

This is the vision made real: a dedicated co-op hub where the whole community plugs in.

  • A physical drop-off and weighing station for local waste contributors.
  • Bulk liquid fertilizer storage tanks and distribution taps for co-op members.
  • A simple co-op ledger where pounds of waste deposited directly earn fertilizer allocations and community energy credits.
  • Pickup routes serving restaurants, flea markets, and other high-volume contributors — because we want to make participation as easy as possible.
  • Funding pathways and replication support so other rural communities can build their own co-ops — think chain restaurants, but make it chain waste co-ops.
  • Full open-source blueprints published freely so anyone, anywhere can build this model in their own backyard.

💰 Phase 1 & 2 Investment Breakdown — $2,500 Goal

I'm doing 100% of the physical labor — building, welding, and testing these systems myself. Every dollar you contribute goes directly toward raw materials and hardware:

  • Thermal & Airflow Testing Materials — $450: High-temp metal piping, insulated bricks, and framing for the rocket stove and candle-draft test chambers.
  • Micro-Turbine & Alternator Assemblies — $500: Miniature turbine blades, custom directional shrouds, and voltage regulators to convert airflow into measurable electrical current.
  • Modular Biogas & Feedstock Starter Kit — $1,250: Core digestion components and connection lines to begin processing garden and animal waste for Phase 2 methane trials.
  • Diagnostics & Measurement Tools — $300: Digital anemometers, thermal temperature guns, multimeters, and N-P-K liquid testing kits.
